Varun Jain is a General Partner at SE Ventures, a $565M venture capital fund backed by Schneider Electric. Based out of Palo Alto, California, Varun is searching for startups that are using AI and IoT to transform the way we run buildings and factories, how we consume energy and how we commute. Prior to joining SE Ventures, he led the global early-stage fund at Qualcomm Ventures and also spearheaded their mobility and industrial practices. He managed a portfolio of over eighty companies that represented more than $100M in invested capital and included breakout companies such as Cruise Automation (acquired by GM), Zoom (NASDAQ: ZM), 99 (acquired by Didi), Noom, Clearmotion, Spyce, Bounce and many others. He has been regularly featured in leading technology publications and recognised among the top twenty rising stars in the corporate venture industry.
Before becoming an investor, Varun was a senior executive at Mint, which started in partnership with The Wall Street Journal and is today one of the most reputed, digital-first, news organizations in Asia. He holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management where he was a McCormick Scholar and a Bachelor of Technology from DA-IICT. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife and newly born son.
